“He went on through the cities and villages bringing the good news of the kingdom of God. And the Twelve were with Him…
and many others, who provided for them out of their means.
Luke 8:1-3
The Friends of the Newark Monastery, Inc. is a non-profit organization formed by a group of lay Catholics who, at the request of Fr. Benedict Groeschel, arranged to finance and purchase Most Blessed Sacrament Friary (formerly the Monastery of St. Dominic) so that the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal could bring their mission of service to the poor, evangelization and renewal to the Newark area.
Today, Most Blessed Sacrament Friary is home to the Friar novices (with an average of 12 novices each year) and a number of professed friars. It has become a beacon of hope to the people of Newark. They are also opening part of the friary as a retreat center for priests and seminarians.
But the work of providing for the Friars continues. The Friends of the Newark Monastery must make annual mortgage payments of $ 82,000. The funds for the mortgage come completely from the Friends of the Newark Monastery. We use no funds that are directed to the Friars’ missionary or charity work.
We need your help. Please join the Friends of the Newark Monastery in continuing to provide the Friars with this most beautiful and holy Friary.
